The Recovery Room was created to provide an additional layer of calm, professional support during this critical stage of recovery - not only for patients, but also for the caregivers supporting them.
The first 24-48 hours after surgery can feel physically uncomfortable, emotionally vulnerable, and filled with questions about what is normal, what to expect, and when to seek help.
Many patients leave surgery feeling well prepared medically, but still overwhelmed once they arrive home, to a hotel, or to an unfamiliar recovery space.
why The Recovery room?
Hi, I’m Lindsay Nikkel, RN, a Registered Nurse with over 20 years of nursing experience, including 5 years working in plastic surgery in the Bow Valley. Through years of supporting post-operative patients locally, I’ve developed a strong understanding of the recovery approaches and post-operative expectations commonly used by plastic surgeons in the region.
The Recovery Room was created after recognizing a gap in support for patients recovering in hotels, Airbnbs, or unfamiliar environments after surgery. My goal is to provide calm, professional, and compassionate post-operative nursing care that helps patients feel safe, informed, and supported during the earliest stages of recovery
